Hotel Santa Barbara is pleased to announce our Makers Workshop Series. We are inviting local artisans to lead classes sharing their craft. Each workshop will be unique like the instructor who leads it.

All classes are open to the public and beginner-friendly. Hotel Santa Barbara guests receive a discounted rate.

Wild Buffalo Workshop’s artist Alana Clumeck will guide you through creating a driftwood wall hanging or wreath using aged Santa Barbara driftwood, sea glass, shells, and rope. She will provide all supplies, and light refreshments will be provided.

Alana Clumeck is an artist, author and tinkerer. She offers paint parties and creative workshops throughout Santa Barbara County. You can find her art on display at the Seaside Makers store in the Funk Zone. Her artwork has also been featured in Cowgirl Magazine and Santa Barbara Magazine. Join us for a beginner-friendly, interactive art workshop exploring the romantic traditions of henna! Wanderlust Wildcraft’s Rachel Meeker will show you how to use henna to decorate paper, fabric, wood, and skin. Rachel will provide all the supplies necessary for the workshop including 100% natural henna paste, applicators, and gift options for participants to decorate.

Rachel has been a henna artist since 2003 and an educator for over a decade. She is the owner & operator of Wanderlust Wildcraft, a local business dedicated to the revitalization of folk skills. Collaborating with local partners including California Folk School, ExploreEcology, Dare 2 Dream Farms, and Valley Wellness Collective, Rachel offers workshops for beginners throughout the Central California area on traditional folk skills. In addition to teaching, she also handcrafts her own line of natural skin care products. Red Tail Jewelry’s Alice Matiosian will teach you the basics of texturing metal shapes to create a unique pair of brass earrings. Come select brass shapes of your choice and stamp, hammer and patina to create a unique wearable design! Class includes all materials needed. Please come with hair tied back and close toed shoes.

Alice Matiosian is a silversmith from Santa Barbara. She currently lives in LA where she works out of her studio creating jewelry for her brand Red Tail Jewelry. Join artist Chelsea Willett for a block carving & printing workshop. Chelsea will teach you how to carve your own linoleum block so that you can print it onto cards and paper. All supplies will be provided, and you will get to keep your block to print again in the future! Light refreshments will be provided.

Join Allison Zeager of AZ Designz to create a pair of eco-friendly earrings made from recycled leather samples! In this unique workshop, Allison will show you techniques to transform recycled leather samples into one-of-a-kind earrings. All supplies are included. No experience needed.

Allison Zeager is the artist behind AZ Designz and a self-proclaimed craftivist with a great appreciation for art, design, travel, and nature.  With the belief that fashion should not take precedent over our care for environment, Allison utilizes discarded leather samples from the fashion industry (which would have otherwise ended up in landfills) and recycles the scraps into one-of-a-kind handcrafted jewelry and accessories. Square Colored Jewelry is a micro business located in Santa Barbara. Alicia has 20+ years experience beading and 10 years experience metal-smith jewelry making.
