Traveling with the entire family can be an adventure all on its own. That’s why we love TravelingMom.com, a website devoted to “making the travel experience easier and more enjoyable for moms”. The site is full of practical advice for traveling with your kids, family-friendly destinations, and great family vacation deals.
But as any mom will tell you having some alone time can be a lifesaver. That’s why when Traveling Mom writer Catherine Parker had the opportunity to visit beautiful Santa Barbara alone by train, she did just that.
Catherine’s car-free trip to Santa Barbara started with a ride on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. Luckily for Catherine Hotel Santa Barbara is the perfect car-free hotel: a short .4 mile walk from the train station and a partner with the Santa Barbara Car Free program.
In Catherine’s article Hop A Train For Fun To Hotel Santa Barbara she documents her adventures in Santa Barbara and her stay with us at the Hotel. Catherine wrote:
“Since it’s positioned on the main thoroughfare, State Street in the heart of Santa Barbara, Hotel Santa Barbara offers guests a refined property tied to its historic roots. As it’s steps from dining and museums, I walked and savored all the sights and smells of Santa Barbara, America’s Rivera.”
Writer Catherine Parker captures the front of Hotel Santa Barbara from State Street.
Catherine also went on to list her 11 Must Dos in Santa Barbara from her experience:
Santa Barbara Farmer’s Market
City Tour with Santa Barbara Trolley Company
Stearns Wharf
Old Mission Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara Zoo
Moxi—The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation
Chase Palm Park Carousel

Santa Barbara Museum of Art

We couldn’t agree with her more!
